Millenium Minerals Ltd was awarded with the Corporate Excellence Award in the Mining Sector for Ethical Mining at The International Business Review ASEAN Awards (IBRAA) 2025, held 19 July 2025 at Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu.
Executive Chairman, Cyril D’Silva, took to the stage to receive the award from H.E. I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, Executive Director of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR).
“It is recognitions like these that inspire start-up companies like ourselves to strive for greater excellence in what we do,” said Cyril in his acceptance speech. “An oftenforgotten aspect in mining is about treating the custodians of the land with respect and honour. We make it a point to work with the owners of the land and learn their culture, and not impose our culture on them.”
He stressed the importance of integrity and respect, to work together with the people and give them hope for a better tomorrow. “I believe we can achieve this balance with the custodians of the land, share the wealth with them and turn their dreams into reality.”
Millenium Minerals is currently the only known license holder to mine the rare Zimmi Yellow Diamonds in Sierra Leone: a uniquely intense colouration of yellow diamonds found exclusively in the Zimmi region. The company is leading the charge for ethical mining practices in West Africa, ensuring excavated precious minerals have transparent, fully certifiable origins free from conflict, by using Blockchain technology.
