To the young practicing designers of Malaysia: this spotlight is for you! A platform celebrating up-and-coming talents who are turning heads in the industry, this award series is made for design studios under 5 years old
Looking to make a name for yourself? The newly launched Malaysia Young Designer Awards (MYDA) aims to set industry-wide standards for budding practicing designers to aspire and aim for, even in their dawn. Symbolising determination and potential, young ducks paddle their way around in a big pond, slowly but surely making their mark over time. This sentiment is what drives MYDA – The Yellow Duck Edition.
Presenting designers in their early years the acclaim and acknowledgement they deserve, the award series champions refreshing concepts and purposeful designs by firms new to the industry. Not limited to just the announcement of winners (complete with a certificate and trophy, of course), MYDA participation comes with access to exclusive networking opportunities with Malaysia’s award-winning studios as well as national exposure via several social media networks and on design specialist online publication, .
Plus, winners of MYDA – The Yellow Duck Edition will receive industry recognition through ‘s portfolio of titles like and , two of Malaysia’s longest-running print magazines for spatial design covering the latest residential, commercial and showhouse projects by an impressive catalogue of firms from all around the country.

Entry criteria for MYDA – The Yellow Duck Edition
Participating design studios must be below 5 years old at the time of submission.
MYDA – The Yellow Duck Edition accepts design projects across two categories:
? – landed ; high-rise
? – retail ; hospitality ; public space ; workplace/office ; F&B ; building ; others
The following criteria must also be fulfilled:
? At least one key person in the participating company must possess a minimum Diploma level in Interior Design / Interior Architecture from a recognised higher learning institution/college
? Participating company/enterprise must be registered in Malaysia
? All works submitted must be completed projects
Important dates & how to enter
From 14 July to 31 August, 2025, all submissions enjoy a 15% off early bird rate, so get those projects in as soon as you can!
Meanwhile, submissions for MYDA – The Yellow Duck Edition officially close at 23:59 on 30 November, 2025.
